Designer Profile: Kelly Hoppen

I'm seeing a client next week who has described her aesthetic as 'Kelly Hoppen warmed up'.  It got me thinking about the elements that make Kelly Hoppen's signature style so striking.  I've decided it's the monochromatic colour schemes, the symmetry of compositions, the avid use of tactile materials and the pared back elegance that is not the least bit understated.  Kelly's use of proportion and space is spot on.  I can't wait to infuse a bit of Ms Hoppen's grand glamour into my client's home.

This little wallpapered space is so stunning and stylish and sophisticated that I'm quite besotted with it.  The colour and pattern of the paper is so masculine... against the white trim, it is simply dapper darling!

The Prettiest Kitchen Sink I've EVER Seen

This fantastic idea to dress up the humble kitchen sink has to be added to the long list of things entitled, "Why The Hell Didn't I Think Of That"!  So simple, so quirky, so pretty, SO Nordic!  Yet another reminder to always search for a fresh perspective when decorating.  I'm officially inspired... hope you are too x

Black Beauty

Now here's something you don't see too often on this blog... a touch of black!

Despite my love affair with all things pure and white, my alter ego has a yearning for black furniture that creeps up on me every now and then. The rocking chair above caught my eye a few days ago and I can't stop thinking about it... clearly I'm infatuated! Darker colours really help to ground a scheme - I particularly love the little glimpse of black and white rug you see in the image below.

Just look at these beautifully decorated rooms... I've always thought that an ebony and ivory colour scheme is the Audrey Hepburn of interior style - always classic, always understated and always faultlessly chic.

After reading yesterday's post, Andre was very quick to remind me that he was manfully embracing the new era of 'White' and that all my fears were misplaced (apparently the way to my heart is clearly through the Dulux Directions in White paint palette.... the man is no fool!).  

But it's not just white that I adore... I'm also rather obsessed with the timeless combination of black and white.  Ebonised floorboards in particular are so sophisticated and grown-up.  Here are some beautiful images that highlight the point perfectly.
