200 Reasons To Be Happy

My hair is behaving.  Andre is cooking a roast for lunch.  The Monkey gave me kisses and cuddles.  The weather is amazing.  It's clean sheet Sunday.  We just mopped the floor... no more sticky feet.  The Magnolias are out in bloom.  I meditated and felt my soul fill with sun.  It's Master Chef Grand Final tonight.  I'm drinking my third cup of tea for the day... in my pink and white stripe cup (I'll skip to the end, shall I?).  I HAVE 200 FOLLOWERS!!!!!!!!

Lordy, Lordy me, I really can't believe it!  Thank you ALL for joining me on my journey... collecting bits and pieces of beauty and uncovering gems of whimsy and joy is so much more fun when I can share it with you.  I feel so blessed to be part of your world.

Here are some more reasons to be happy... colour, pattern, originality:

A Well Worn Floor

I love the subtle, muted colours of this interior but to me, the star of the show is the rustic, worn and scratched wooden floor!  The imperfection of the floorboards grounds the entire scheme, giving it a sense of place and authenticity.  It is such a peaceful environment and a home that feels real and lived in.

Perfect Harmony

I love the simplicity and balance of this scheme.  From the perfect proportions of the furniture, to the understated elegance of the pendant light, the overall effect is stunning.  I also adore the way the fabric colours compliment the outside vista, pulling the eye through the window to the view beyond.

Grand Entrance

There is something so wonderfully decadent about a wide entrance hallway... it sets a tone of spacious elegance for the entire home.  The image above makes we want to squeal with delight (yes... like a little piggy!).  The ceiling, my lovelies... the ceiling!  Have you ever seen anything quite so divine in all your life?  WOWie!

Some Floss for The Fairies

I'm restoring the status quo from yesterday!

If I ever have a little girl, her bedroom will look like this... and if I don't, then there's a good chance poor Leo's bedroom will also look like this!  I can just imagine him padding about the place dressed in a pink tutu and waving a fairy wand...

Whacky Wednesday

CONFESSION: despite my great (and somewhat overly obvious) love of white simplicity, I have a hidden kooky streak that inexplicably draws me to off-beat, quirky and downright wacky interiors.  I can't help it... I become totally consumed by the sheer individuality of certain spaces.  Take this incredibly intriguing home in Mapsebury, UK - part of me loathes it, but the other part of me thinks its one of the most fabulous concoctions of eccentricity I've ever clapped eyes on!  You can be sure that there is not another home like this one anywhere in the world...

I'd be fascinated to know what you think - could you happily live here, or would you need to be taken out in a straight jacket after twenty-four hours? (best not answer that until you've seen the bathrooms!)

House Tour - Come Along With Me My Pretty

The chairs, the dust pink satin drapes, the vintage wallpaper, the crystal chandeliers, the oversize mirrors, the fluffy animal hides, the BATH... if I lived all alone, with no grotty boys and just a cat for company, this would be the house I'd choose!

If I had to pick a favourite feature it would be those pink drapes - the colour is so perfectly and obscenely girly, I can feel the seven-year-old inside me crying with longing.  What's your favourite feature?

A Home With Heart

This is the Barcelona home of Katherine Boonen and Jan Donhardt, the couple behind the art direction and styling agency, Lila & Tom.  What I love most about their home is that it feels real and lived in - something rare amongst the design set.

The painted door above is a gorgeous, whimsical touch.

The little table was found in the streets of Madrid... I love the string of fairy lights.

An old wooden cable spool makes a stunning coffee table.

The doorway to their son's bedroom sports a cardboard cut-out sherif.

A busy, busy bookshelf that obviously gets lots of use.

A Perfect White Interior

I just love the feel of this gorgeous house in the UK - what a perfect canvas to add little personal touches to. My favourite space is the lounge room below... the geometric shape of the architectural detailing surrounding the bay window is stunning.
