Goodness, it's been an age since I've posted anything... life has been busy... a new baby, a new interior decorating project, and a lot less hours in the day to look at pretty pictures! But you know me, I start to go a bit batty when I haven't had my dose of loveliness for the week - I start to pine for beauty. Sometimes I think that looking at pages of gorgeous images is better than therapy... I can feel my heart fill up with sunshine.

Perfect Pair

I have a secret dream that involves my architect husband and I collaborating on some grand interiors business venture that will enable both of us to utilise our design skills while working together. When I discovered that Atlanta Bartlett (see last post) is married to designer Dave Coote, I felt strangely encouraged and more than a little envious! One thing that is very clear about the Bartlett/Coote partnership is that they obviously share a very similar design vision.... something that Andre and I might find challenging - he likes natural timber and owns a black Eames chair... need I say more? :)

I'm suffering from a severe infatuation with the work of UK stylist, Atlanta Bartlett - I love it when I come across another stylist who strikes a chord with my own version of perfection. Her compositions have a timeless, classic elegance that I adore, with little touches that make each image a work of art. I'm officially inspired!

Black Beauty

Now here's something you don't see too often on this blog... a touch of black!

Despite my love affair with all things pure and white, my alter ego has a yearning for black furniture that creeps up on me every now and then. The rocking chair above caught my eye a few days ago and I can't stop thinking about it... clearly I'm infatuated! Darker colours really help to ground a scheme - I particularly love the little glimpse of black and white rug you see in the image below.

Missing: My Style Mojo

Four weeks into motherhood and the dreaded has happened... I've lost my styling mojo! People warned me, they said it would ambush me, but not for one instant did I believe it would happen to me!

What I find most disturbing of all is that I no longer seem to care... no longer am I mortally offended by the hideous fabric of the breast-feeding pillow I borrowed... no longer do I hide the awful nappy boxes under the cot... no longer do I bother to put away the baby bath every night (it now lives in the entrance hall of all places!)... no longer do I see what my house actually looks like - and believe me, it looks like my very own version of hell, complete with an overflowing recycling bin and burp cloths flung on every available surface! I knocked over a stack of very artfully arranged vintage books the other day while negotiating the pram down our narrow hallway and I haven't even bothered to re-arrange them... they lay there like forgotten dead things, mocking me every time I rush past with yet another load of washing.

So......... I'm reclaiming my mojo before it decides to take a permanent leave of absence - I figured some inspiring images were in order to remind me exactly why it is I love what I do and why I must fight the good fight to hold onto a small piece of my pre-baby self xx

I absolutely adore this kitchen. The layout, detailing and proportions are perfect and the beautiful high ceiling prevents the solid structural components from appearing too heavy. The giant clam shell is a stunning addition... I can see myself cooking up a storm in this kitchen, no trouble whatsoever!
