Four weeks into motherhood and the dreaded has happened... I've lost my styling mojo! People warned me, they said it would ambush me, but not for one instant did I believe it would happen to me!
What I find most disturbing of all is that I no longer seem to care... no longer am I mortally offended by the hideous fabric of the breast-feeding pillow I borrowed... no longer do I hide the awful nappy boxes under the cot... no longer do I bother to put away the baby bath every night (it now lives in the entrance hall of all places!)... no longer do I see what my house actually looks like - and believe me, it looks like my very own version of hell, complete with an overflowing recycling bin and burp cloths flung on every available surface! I knocked over a stack of very artfully arranged vintage books the other day while negotiating the pram down our narrow hallway and I haven't even bothered to re-arrange them... they lay there like forgotten dead things, mocking me every time I rush past with yet another load of washing.
So......... I'm reclaiming my mojo before it decides to take a permanent leave of absence - I figured some inspiring images were in order to remind me exactly why it is I love what I do and why I must fight the good fight to hold onto a small piece of my pre-baby self xx

Ah Angela...you're human! Your post made me smile because I think we've all been there. Crumbs, my youngest is 22 and I still get like that on the odd occasion! I don't think you could have chosen more soothing images though :)
Best of luck with that, Ange ☺. Gosh, four weeks in is very tough going, especially first time around. If it helps at all, we've always broken it down into getting through the first 6 weeks (at which point they almost settle into a routine of sorts) and the second 6 weeks and then suddenly you're through the newborn phase and they can be smiling, cooing, squealing with delight, grabbing things and most importantly, sleeping better. That doesn't necessarily mean 'through the night' (and don't listen to anyone about that - everyone has their own definition) but at least you can get a few more hours of sleep and you can start to feel slightly more human again. So, hang in there, sweet girl. You'll get your style mojo back - you just have more important matters to attend to at the moment! If you worried about trying to keep your place the way it was before you landed on Planet Baby, you'd do your head in! Sending you a ♥. J x
Ang don't fear it's only temporary and it's called exhaustion. Another couple of months and your sense of style will be back stronger then ever thanks to your new bundle of inspiration.
I know where you're at and if anything it means your heart is in the right spot. Don't fret, talent and a great eye won't dissipate long term because of your temporary fatigue. Focus on that beautiful babe and you'll be back to your fantastic self in no time. (I know, it's happened to me 5 times) Hugs!! xoxo e
I know what you mean, Angela! We just moved, and with all that's going on, I have had to force myself to blog and create posts, it's kind of disturbing (and not even close to having a baby!), but I totally get it! I think our mojo will return, though! XX!
Don't panic! It's temporary! Before you know it you'll be burping baby and styling your place at the same time! Go easy on yourself. The transition to motherhood is brutal and some things have got to give!
X Briohny.
