Moody Monday

It is such a grey old morning here in Sydney... the entire world feels soggy and bleak.  It would be the perfect day for snuggling by an open fire with a mohair blanket and good book (if only I had a fireplace and a day off work!).  Here are some beautiful images from one of my favourite blogs, Hannas-Form that suit my mood today...

My Button Jar

Here is the most recent addition to my desk... a button jar!  My obsession with buttons is well documented on this blog - I love them - in all shapes and sizes, colours and finishes.... just looking at the jar is happiness!  Quirky little obsessions are my specialty x

Please Can I Be 8 Again?

It should surprise you none that I had a ridiculously girly bedroom growing up, complete with pink walls, a brass bed and a careful arrangement of stuffed toys wearing hand-knitted outfits. At the age of about eight, I put forward a decorating proposal to my mother, selected two different pink paint colours (one for above the picture rail, and one for below) and set about transforming my room into a version of perfection that was a little bit Beatrix Potter and a whole lot Barbie. I clearly remember the first night I spent in my freshly painted room (slightly perturbed that the lamp light was making the walls appear apricot) and the feeling of wonder as I lay there looking around at the realisation of my dream... and so a love of decorating was born.

Here are some little girls rooms that make me wish I was right back in 1985, admiring the way my dusty pink walls complimented Barbie's all-in-one satin jumpsuit. Happy days x

Beautiful Built-Ins

How I love a good built-in wall unit... whether it's in a walk-in robe, a library, a lounge room or a bathroom, it always adds depth and dimension to a space - not to mention providing the perfect opportunity for some drop-dead gorgeous styling! I can't decide what I would wish for more... a closet like the first image, or a bathroom like the last... would both be too greedy?

The Perfect Room for a Girly Tea Party!

I have been blessed with a group of very beautiful and very talented friends who I'm sure would all love to sit around in this gorgeous room, drinking copious cups of tea and eating pretty pastel iced cupcakes with those little silver balls on them... in fact, if I could make a wish right now, that would be it!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone x

Well Dressed Wednesday

Today I was in the mood for something snappy and fun... kind of like the interior equivilant of an exceptionally well dressed gay gentleman! The first image is so divine - the choice of art, the shape and colour of the bedhead, the contrasting patterns on the cushions... that's called perfection people!

Bring Back the Dining Room!

As passionate advocates of all things old school, Andre and I like to eat our dinner every night at our dining table... we are unashemedly old-fashioned... it is such a wonderful opportunity for us to connect, chat and share the events of our busy day while taking the time to fully appreciate the meal we have prepared. So it stands to reason that the dining room should be a true focal point of the home...

While I love the idea of a refined and striking formal dining room like the ones featured in the first two images, I think the last image is far more up my alley! I just adore the contrasting tones and the classic, relaxed air of the rustic table and slip covered chairs. Do you have a favourite?

Winter White

This morning as I stepped outside I was met with the chilly breath of winter whispering in the leaves... It got me thinking about how I can make my favourite colour palette (white, white and more white) a little cosier for the colder months. I found this beautiful English home that manages to combine lashings of white paint with some gorgeous, muted dark tones... It makes me want to rush out and find an old, beaten up leather armchair to tuck myself into with a mug of cocoa and a good book!

Wednesday's Little Thought

... the beauty of our hearts can be found amongst the myriad of pieces, not in it's perfection x

Monday Love... Soft & Subtle Spaces

Do you think heaven will be decorated in powdery blues, taupes and touches of chartreuse? How I hope so! I just adore all these interiors - they are all so delicately put together with great thought and understanding for the space. Just what we all need on a Monday... a little glamour... a little sophistication... and a whole lot of style!

A Thousand Apologies

...but there are not enough hours in the day...
All the pretty things in my head are blowing around and collecting in piles like the autumn leaves in the street outside - I PROMISE not to let them rot - I WILL return to regular blogging soon my lovely followers. In the mean time, here is some gorgeous nonsense to ease the fact that I'm still sitting at work surrounded by paper xx

For The Angels

I am so excited (and proud) to be able to introduce you to my beautiful friend Emma Duckworth who has created a divine range of baby items, available from her Etsy store By Emma Designs.

Not only is she a talented interior designer but is also proving to be an incredibly crafty lady as well.  Emma has two of the most gorgeous little girls you've ever seen who are clearly a great source of inspiration!  Her singlets, bunting and toys make wonderful baby shower gifts... I would certainly recommend a little trip over to her Etsy store to look at the lovely array of tidbits on offer :)
