A Whole Bunch of Pretty

This blog started out life as simply a place for me to collect images of interiors that I love... a little catalogue of ideas that I can then keep track of.  So today I'm adding to my collection and including a small description of why I find each image so appealing:

1) The wallpaper, the blue accents, the irregularity of it all.... oh and the equestrian boots with the feather poking out the top - very quirky styling.

2) The button back of this chaise lounge combined with the floor tiles is my idea of classic perfection.  The lace curtain in the foreground is a beautiful Swedish touch.

3) This image has my name all over it - I love every single thing about this room from the dusty pink quilt to the claw-footed bath to the beaten up vintage chair... I think I could quite happily exist in this room forever.

4) Rustic, lived-in kitchens are among my favourite things - I think it has something to do with my country upbringing where the kitchen was a big, bustling hub of the house.  Plus I just adore the little children's chair - it's like the interim step between a highchair and eating at the grown ups table... very sweet.

Friday Flower

Here's a little flower to celebrate the wonder that is two whole days of uninterrupted bliss and pleasure.... I hope you all have the most wonderful weekend imaginable!

Crosby Street Hotel

I got a little bit over-excited when I saw these images of the Crosby Street Hotel in New York - the rooms are so beautifully and artfully decorated.  Can you imagine being the stylist responsible?  What I wouldn't give to have a project like this to work on!

Pink Dreams

If I existed in a world devoid of my lovely Andre (which is the most awful, horrible thought imaginable) then the only, small compensation would be that I would be permitted to have a pink painted front door. I have resigned myself to the fact that I will never actually be able to live in a house with a lolly pink door, but the seven year-old inside me still holds onto my Barbie dream!

Cardigan Bargain!

Those who know me well will attest to the fact that I am an absolute cardigan fiend!  I love them.  I have one in practically every shade of pretty ever invented (a pastel coloured cardi for me is like a drug... I literally can't walk past one in a shop without buying it).  So you can imagine my state of excitement when I came across these beauties in Glassons for only $25 a pop!  I'm telling you, best bargain shopping I've done in ages.  And the colours were endless - I was tossing up getting a soft dusty pink one too but pay day is a little far off for such wild extravagance!  Three was really three too many if you saw how over-stuffed my drawers are!  Ahhh, the joy of pretty cardi shopping - happy days :)

Nature Love

I was in the mood today for a bit of whimsy and prettiness... I've had a real thing lately for anything with a natural element (apparently paper mache recreations are entirely acceptable!). Birds, butterflies, deer.... I see them and I just want them!

White with Envy

Clearly my love affair with white interiors shows no sign of abating any time soon!  You have got to check out this amazing house in Elmbourne, London... the detailing is incredible, it makes me want to pick up a paint brush and hit the tin of Antique White USA I've got hiding in the cupboard.  I wonder what my aversion to bright colours says about me - hopefully not that I'm awfully dull and bland :)

Wishing for Icecream

It is so ridiculously hot in Sydney today that I don't just wish I could eat icecream, I wish I was icecream....

And frankly, if I can't be icecream, then the next best thing would be to live inside an icecream van (preferably a pretty pink one just like this!).

If you don't hear from me for a while it will be because I have melted in a sticky puddle on the floor :)

This image comprises three of my favourite things.... old cotton reels, rusty keys and vintage books. I'm not sure I can explain my obsession but quite clearly someone else out there shares my love - isn't it wonderful when you discover you share the same creative head space as a complete stranger? May vintage lovers of the world unite!

Today I Wish...

OK, I have to admit that I'm struggling to focus on my work today... I have boring things to do like costing schedules and orders. I would much rather be doing any of the following....

Writing.... anything - a novel, an article, a shopping list!

Sleeping.... I just want to curl up in all that white puff and have a little nap

Jumping on a trampoline... do you remember how fun that was?

Walking in the woods... all on my lonesome

Packing my bags and flying to South Africa to see a man about a cat

A Very Talented Little Miss

Every so often I come across somebody in blogging world who completely astounds me with their creativity. Yesterday I discovered Susannah Conway, an incredibly talented individual with a penchent for polaroids. Her work (all of it, from her photography to her musings) really touch my heart and inspire me to look at the world a little differently.
